OLD FLINGS

OLD FLINGS is a three piece rock/punk band whose influences range from Samiam to Gin Blossoms to Hot Water Music to 90s-era Revelation Records. But maybe we don't really sound like most of those bands.
Formed in Fall of 2010, OLD FLINGS boasts current and former members of JUST DIE!, MEGAHURTZ, THE CAMPAIGN 1984, and NIGHTS ON FIRE. What started out as a fun way to electrify and inject intensity into Matt Evans' acoustic solo songs has become a full-fledged output of loud, honest, and punk-induced pop rock anthems. Songs like "Merry Go Round" and "Postcards" showcase the trios' love for 90s alternative rock, while remembering their punk roots.
A demo was recorded by Dave Barrett before the end of 2010, which was pressed first via the b-side of Matt Evans' solo EP on cassette (SELF AWARE RECORDS) and secondly onto CD format via a joint effort of BITTER MELODY RECORDS and SELF AWARE RECORDS. The trio plans to continue writing, with the hopes of recording a full length shortly after 2012 begins.
Old Flings has shared the stage (and floor) with BANE, DEFEATER, PJ BOND, MIXTAPES, CANDY HEARTS, IRON CHIC, MILES AWAY, DEAD END PATH, KOJI, TIMESHARES, HOLD TIGHT, RUBRICS, BOYS NO GOOD, THE RICE CAKES, DEAR KAVALIER, FUTURE WIVES, SUNDIALS, SLEEPING SPIDERS, THE TAXPAYERS, RYAN SHEFFIELD, FORGET ME, ALGERNON CADWALLADER, SNOWING, THE RIOT BEFORE, APART, COLLAPSE, ROBERT DOUGLAS TRAVIS, JOEY DOWNS, and more.
